Bicentennial Boiler

258-ton steam boiler drum recently made its way to Underwood, N.D. aboard three 12-axle Southern flatcars. The 95-foot drum, painted red, white and blue with stars and the Bicentennial logo, was shipped by Combustion Engineering, Inc., Chattanooga. The cargo was delivered to the Coal Creek generating station, the largest plant ever financed by the Rural Electrification Administration. Southern handled the first leg of the 14-day, 1,433 mile shipment.
