Eight Miles of Pipe on One Mile of Train
This 79-car, mile-long train loaded with eight miles of pipe is powered by Southern Railway as it heads through Tennessee on a five day, 3,000 mile journey from Panama City, Fla,. To Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. Berg Steel Pipe Corp. of Panama City manufactured the 4,100 tons of Arctic grade, large-diameter steel pipe for natural gas pumping stations being built by Nova and Alberta Corp. in Canada. In addition to Southern, the train moved via the Atlanta and St. Andrews Bay, Norfolk and Western, Belt, soo, and Canadian Pacific Rail lines.
