Goldhofer High-Girder Bridge with 350 tons payload operating in Turkey

In 2001, Goldhofer delivered a gigantic high-girder bridge with 350 tons payload to the Turkish haulage company "Magdenli Transport and Trade Co. Inc." located in Ankara. The 36m long and 7m wide bridge has been designed for combination with two 12-axle Goldhofer-heavy duty modules type THP/SL and was engineered and built by Goldhofer within very short time. The high-girder bridge is mainly used for the transport of generators and transformers. The first operations were carried out by Magdenli on behalf of the Amercian-Turkish contractor "Bechtel-Enka" for the construction of a new big power station. For transportation, the 240 tons turbines were placed directly into the high girder bridge through the ship's crane. After lashing, the convoy set off on its 50 km long distance to its place of destination where the turbines were set down on concrete blocks. The total combination measured 80m in length.

Technical data of the high girder bridge:
Total length approx. 36,0 m
Max. loading length approx. 13,0 m
Loading width approx. 2,8 m - 5,4 m
Overall width approx. 4,4 m - 7,0 m
Total height approx. 4,0 m
Hydraulic stroke approx. 1,3 m
Deadweight incl. load bearing equipment approx. 120 tons

The high girder bridge has been designed such that it is hydraulically adjustable in width and in height. The hydraulic adjustment in width enables the adaptation to different load widths. For loading and unloading or for crossing obstacles, the bridge can be lifted or lowered due to the hydraulic stroke. The longitudinal beams are designed such that they are divisible several times which also allows the loading length to be adapted to the load requirements. Furthermore, the bridge can be uncoupled for loading and unloading and can be moved using two auxiliary bogies. The high girder bridge can therefore take a payload from the ground and load it with no use of a crane, which saves much time and money.
