Description:

This 24 axle schnabel car is owned by Electricity Commission of New South Wales It was built by Cometto in Italy and being commissioned in 1982, at a cost of $2 million. The wagon was used for the transport of stators to two power stations then under construction, but has not been used for a number of years.

The car is currently displayed at the Dorrigo Steam Railway and Museum.

These photos were not taken by Andrew, but were passed down to him from a collegue who knew he had an interest in building a model of this rollingstock.

The unloading took place at White Bay, Sydney Harbour

The train then worked it's way around past Rozelle yards and up the Blue Mountains to Lithgow where it was unloaded and transported by road to the power stations.

The photos show a 684,000 lb. stator being unloaded from a ship, and the being shipped to the Pieper Power Station in the Central West of New South Wales, Australia.
