Great changes are being made in the railroad map of the City of New Orleans as work progresses on the establishment of a union passenger terminal. Equally important , is the elimination of many grade crossings. Eventually, the railroads serving the city will have paid all of the costs of the improvements through the retirement of bond issues floated by the city.
The Southern's shops and yard at Bernadotte are being abandoned with operations transferred to Press Street.
