ON THE COVER
Brushing past a curtain of icicles at the tunnel mouth, Diesel-powered freight train No.53 emerges from the eastern end of Duncan Tunnel, four- and-a-half miles west of New Albany, Indiana, and rounds a snow-covered hill on its way from East St. Louis to Louisville. A bleak winter landscape and a railway freight train serve to underline again the word 'all-weather" in the railway's often repeated and never broken promise of "all-weather freight service."
