On the NO&TP just north of Chattanooga, Tenn., the Southern's winter-season streamliner New Royal Palm crosses the Tennessee River Bridge on its way from the resort cities of Florida to Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Midwest. Many of the passengers aboard are vacationers who wrote a happy ending to their Florida holidays by booking reservations home on the luxurious New Royal Palm. In the background is Chickamauga Dam, built in 1940 by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
