Southern engine No. 6977 pulled the "Queen and Crescent" in 1921, according
to Shelby F. Lowe, clerk at the railway's Inman Yard, Atlanta, Ga., who sent Ties the picture.

In place of the old freight station (left) built before the Civil War,
the Southern - affiliated Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company now has a new brick office building
(above) at Anderson, S. C. The new structure, with warehouse space at rear, was constructed
entirely with funds received from the sale of a passenger station owned by the railway and no longer
used. Freight traffic personnel as well as supervisory officers of the C&NW's Anderson division
have offices in the building.

A locomotive used on the old Queen and Crescent Route, now a part of the
Southern Railway System. The picture, taken in 1890 at Junction City, Ky., was sent to TIES by S. A.
Wallace, of Louiscille, Ky. His father, William A. Wallace (third from the left) was a fireman on No. 60.
The other crew members in this picture were not identified.
