ON THE COVER
Southern Railway's high-speed electronic business machines were the center of interest when business students from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Va., visited the railway's accounting department in Washington recently.
This machine, demonstrated by T. S. Edwards (at right), assistant auditor, rapidly selects accounting information from punched cards and reproduces it in statement form.
As the machine went into "high gear" the Iooks of astonishment on faces of some of his students diverted the attention of Richard Greene, a teacher accompanying the group. At center is student-teacher Walter Loftin.
