ON THE COVER

This month, Southern Railway passenger trains take on the semblance of college campuses as our railway plays host to students streaming back to schools throughout the South for the fall term.

Rail travel is popular among students, who find that railroads offer a course in what might be termed the "Three C's"- comfort, convenience and cordiality.

And for those back-to-school travelers headed for universities located along Southern's main line between Washington and New Orleans one of the favorite trains is "The Southerner," shown here in eastern Alabama.
