A train ride, a tour through a fascinating wonderland where molten glass is "magically" turned into fiber yarn - and refreshments - added up to an hour and a half well spent as shown by these children's faces.

When it had an "open house" to celebrate the start of operations at its vast new Fiber Glass Division at Shelby, N. C., Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company chartered a Southern Railway train to carry visitors from the town to and from the plant throughout the day. Morning trips were reserved for schoolchildren of Cleveland County. "
