Southern employees in Atlanta will recognize the upper part of the composite picture on this month's cover as a scene showing the elaborate tree-lighting ceremony held each year on Thanksgiving Day at Rich's department store. Choral groups and church choirs in the glassed-in four-level bridge connecting the store's two buildings sing carols as spectators in the street below watch and listen.
The train is another part of the Christmas story for stores and people every- where. Many articles that eventually wind up around Christmas trees as gifts for Christmas morning have traveled part way by rail.
