One of the essentials of today's railroading is communication-in yards, on line of road, from city to city and from office to office.

Pictured here is one of the transmission and relay towers of a microwave network - a radio-telephone system that provides dozens of telephone and teletype channels.

One of the more recent developments in the communication system with which Southern speeds the How of information throughout the railway and adds to safety of operation, this is another of our modern ways to serve the modern South.
