The new cars being developed on the Southern Railway System today are all designed primarily with one goal in view: To reduce shippers' total costs of transportation by giving them cars with features that will help make this possible.
No matter how efficient the design of a new car may appear on the drafts- man's board, the equipment must ultimately be proven on the job, in service tests conducted with the cooperation of shippers and receivers.
