The biggest single box car load of furniture in history was shipped recently from Kent-Coffey Manufacturing Company in Lenoir, N. C., to Chicago. One of Southern's "Big Boy" cars had room for 104 sets of bedroom furniture . . . enough to furnish the bedrooms of many small housing developments. The immense load-carrying size of the "Big Boy" is easily apparent in comparison with the standard-size box car shown with it in the photo above. The interior view shows the be- ginning of loading the more than 600 shipping packages that were in this record-setting load. Harold F. Coffey, president of Kent-Coffey and a director of the Carolina & Northwestern Railway, a Southern System member line, is second from right in the doorway area (photo above).
