Freedom to Lower Freight Rates

Lower-cost transportation of larger volumes of commodities such as flour and sugar in bulk - that's what Southern is offering through use of its new 100-ton " Airslide" cars. These new cars have two compartments, as against one compartment in the 70-ton " Airslide" which Southern introduced in the 1950's; and the new cars have a 4,180 cubic foot capacity, as against a 2,600 cubic foot capacity in the 70-ton cars.

Loading of the new car is quick, clean, efficient.

In between loading and unloading there is the low- cost rail transportation of large volume that puts job-producing freight on the Southern Railway.

And unloadingis no less so.
