Southern Scenes

The feature shows a night photograph of the Southern Cresent stopped at Greensboro, N.C., was taken by Mike Small of Jamestown, N.C.


Passengers on the Skyland Special will pass through Point Tunnel, west of Old Fort, N.C" during the fall foliage spectacular trips along the Blue Ridge. A special parlor dome car will give passengers a panoramic view of the route, which was completed in 1880. The excursions from Asheville, N.C" to Old Fort and return are being offered on October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30. On Saturdays the train leaves Asheville at 9 a.m. and returns at 12:30 p.m. On Sundays it leaves at 1 p.m. and returns at 4:30 p.m. Train fare is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children (2-11 ).
