The following photo and information was sent to me by Glen Brunskill. On the morning of Monday Apr 9, 2001 I saw some heavy-duty well cars being moved by Rail Link at the Hamilton, Ontario, Sherman Ave Yard. Both cars were empty. The first was WECX 102, painted Westinghouse Light Blue but with no Westinghouse markings. This is a Schnabel car equipped with a removable center platform. I was able to photograph it adjacent to some of the former International Harvester buildings near Wilcox St. just south of the Stelco Boiler House (about 200 meters east of the Sherman Ave. yard).

The following information was marked on it. The following three photos and information was sent to me by Dave Kerr.

"Three generations of my family worked for Westinghouse, including my dad who retired as night shift supervisor in the Large Rotating Aparatus Divsion (D Aisle), where Westinghouse produced its massive generators, at the East Pittsburgh Works. I am attaching a photo from the early or mid-70s of WECX 102 at East Pittsburgh, fully loaded with its generator destined for movement to a utility. I am also including two additional photos of WECX 102, one of them a montage of four, which features two loaded Schnabel cars on parallel tracks. All of these photos were sent to me by Westinghouse Orlando."

"The sight of a loaded Schnabel car is one the great treasures of my childhood. I am very proud of my dad and the men of the Turtle Creek valley in Western Pennsylvania who built the generators that still today produce the electricity that America and the world needs - 'Their labors vanquished the dark,' I like to say."

"John Albright's photos seem to have been taken in Florida, where Westinghouse moved its Power Generation operation (Pensacola) after it closed the East Pittsburgh Works. But East Pittsburgh was the center of Westinghouse's industrial empire for almost one hundred years."
