ON THE COVER
Stretching for miles, Citico yard is pictured here against a background of industrial smoke (bespeaking the manufacturing importance of Chattanooga) and the towering mass of Lookout Mountain.
At left in the foreground is the "local yard," at right are the long tracks used when pulling cuts of cars from classification tracks. Sixty such tracks are in the classification yard, center of picture.
To its left, extending into the distance are the tracks where trains are "built" for outbound movement. Receiving yard tracks for inbound trains extend into the distance beyond the yard tower at the hump.
